Rental and checkout rules
The full pricing, card hold, return, and 48-hour rules shown at TapCharge checkout.
Before checkout
Choose an available TapCharge kiosk, provide a valid receipt email, accept the rental terms, and complete the card authorization before a power bank can be released.
A rental starts only after the kiosk confirms that it dispensed a power bank. If dispensing fails, TapCharge voids the authorization. An uncertain dispense is held for support review so you are not charged blindly.
Temporary card hold
TapCharge places a temporary $39.00 authorization on your card. This is not an upfront charge, but it can reduce your available balance until TapCharge captures the final amount or your bank releases the unused portion.
Your bank or card issuer controls how quickly a released hold disappears from your account.
Rental price
The first 5 minutes are free. Starting at minute 5, the rental costs $1.50 for each started 30-minute period.
When a power bank is returned before the 48-hour deadline, the time-based rental charge is capped at $9.00 before any applicable tax. TapCharge captures only the final rental charge and releases the rest of the hold.
Returns
Return the same power bank to any active TapCharge kiosk with an open return slot. The return is complete only after the kiosk accepts and records the bank.
Keep the power bank until the kiosk confirms the return. If the kiosk does not accept it or the return is not reflected in your rental, contact support promptly with the kiosk location and rental ID.
48-hour deadline
A power bank that has not been recorded as returned within 48 hours is treated as unreturned. During the next daily settlement run, TapCharge captures $39.00: the $9.00 rental cap plus a $30.00 replacement fee, before any applicable tax.
Because settlement runs daily, the charge can occur after the exact 48-hour mark. TapCharge emails the receipt when the charge is captured. A later physical return is still recorded for inventory, but it does not automatically reverse the completed lost-bank charge. Contact support if you believe the return record or charge is wrong.
Questions or disputes
See the complete Terms and Conditions or contact support with your rental ID if a kiosk, return, or charge needs review.
