Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Gao Technologies LLC d/b/a TapCharge collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use TapCharge power bank rental kiosks, websites, web apps, accounts, payment features, customer support, and SMS messaging.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number, account credentials, payment-related details, coupon or credit information, and support messages.
When you rent or return a power bank, we may collect rental activity such as kiosk location, machine identifier, battery identifier, rental start and end time, return status, charges, deposits, refunds, and account balance activity.
We may collect device, usage, and log information from our web app and kiosks, including IP address, browser type, pages viewed, approximate location derived from your device or kiosk interaction, error logs, and fraud-prevention signals.
We may also collect information necessary to provide location-based features and improve the operation of our Services, such as approximate location information derived from your device, IP address, or kiosk interaction. This information helps us identify nearby kiosks, facilitate rentals and returns, enhance service availability, and detect potential fraud or misuse. Where required by applicable law, we will collect such information only with your permission.
How we use information
We use information to provide TapCharge rentals, verify accounts, process payments and deposits, send receipts, manage returns, provide customer support, prevent fraud or misuse, improve our services, and comply with legal obligations.
We may also use information to monitor, investigate, detect, and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, security incidents, abuse of the Services, or violations of these Terms, and to protect the safety of our users, kiosks, and business operations.
We may analyze information in an aggregated or de-identified form to evaluate usage trends, improve the performance and reliability of our Services, develop new features, and enhance the overall user experience.
We may use your phone number to send verification codes, rental confirmations, return reminders, payment notices, account alerts, support responses, and other service-related text messages connected to your TapCharge account or rental activity.

If you provide your mobile number and agree to receive texts from TapCharge, Gao Technologies LLC d/b/a TapCharge may send SMS messages related to your account, rentals, payments, support requests, and service updates.
Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of TapCharge text messages at any time by replying STOP. You may reply HELP for help.
We use your mobile number only as reasonably necessary to provide and support the Services, comply with legal obligations, protect account security, and communicate with you regarding your TapCharge account and rental activity.
We do not sell or rent your mobile phone number. Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
Payments
TapCharge may use third-party payment processors, such as Stripe or Apple Pay providers, to process holds, rental charges, deposits, refunds, and other transactions. TapCharge does not store full payment card numbers on its own servers.
Payment processors may collect and process payment information according to their own privacy policies and legal requirements.
To verify and administer transactions, we may receive and maintain transaction-related information, such as payment status, payment method, transaction amount, authorization or deposit status, refunds, credits, and other records necessary to provide the Services, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing information
We may share information with service providers who help us operate TapCharge, including payment processing, hosting, analytics, customer support, communications, security, fraud prevention, and kiosk operations.
We may also share information with our affiliates, business partners, contractors, venue partners, or other service providers when reasonably necessary to provide the Services, support rentals and returns, maintain our business operations, protect our rights, or comply with legal obligations. We require such parties to use the information only for authorized purposes and to protect it appropriately.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect TapCharge, our users, or others, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of business assets.
We do not sell personal information in the ordinary meaning of selling customer lists for money.
Data retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain business records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, comply with law, and enforce our agreements.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.
When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, we may delete, anonymize, or otherwise securely dispose of it, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law or is reasonably necessary to protect our legal rights or resolve disputes.

You may update account information through the app when those controls are available, contact us to request help with your information, and opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP.
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information that we maintain about you. We will review and respond to such requests in accordance with applicable law and our operational requirements.
You may also manage certain permissions, such as location permissions, through your device settings. Please note that disabling certain permissions or declining to provide certain information may limit or prevent your ability to use some features of the Services.
Some service messages may be necessary to provide rentals, account security, payment processing, or legal notices and cannot be opted out of while using the Services.
